According to industry research, construction workers face a significantly higher risk of suicide than the general population. This is a critical issue for our industry and one that deserves continued awareness, education, and action.
This year’s Construction Suicide Prevention Week theme, Building on Progress, recognizes the progress being made in reducing suicide rates in construction while emphasizing the importance of continuing that momentum.
Kokolakis is committed to being part of that effort by serving as active members on the Construction Financial Management Association’s (CFMA) Suicide Prevention Committee and attending several suicide prevention talks to continue learning, raising awareness, and creating a culture where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical safety.

On September 11, we remember.
We honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and everyday heroes who demonstrated extraordinary courage following one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
Among those we remember is JoAnne Ahladiotis, a beloved member of the Kokolakis family who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. JoAnne’s father, Milton Ahladiotis, was one of the first Kokolakis employees, retiring after nearly 45 years of service.
Twenty-five years later, we honor JoAnne and the thousands of lives lost on September 11, while remembering the strength, courage, and compassion that emerged in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
