Quality. Integrity. Accountability.

The Valencia Ballroom is certainly a vast improvement from what we had to offer our clients prior to the renovation. You and your team should be proud of the key role that Kokolakis played in executing this challenge project. The time line we had to tackle this renovation was tight, and many challenges had to be overcome to meet the end goal. This would not have been achievable without the dedication and partnership we had with Kokolakis. Thank you and everyone on your team for a job well done!!

Terry M. Devitt, CMP, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL

Major General Luis R. Visot, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL

The contractor provided effective means for maintaining security and court operations during a fairly complex renovation. As project manager for the owner, I was impressed with their communication skills and thorough documentation during the course of the work…

The COARNG currently has close to two hundred million dollars of military construction occurring on six new projects with six different general contractors. The Kokolakis team is by far the best general contractor I have been associated with. The entire on site and office team are well versed in their trade, timely and exceptionally professional. I would highly recommend them on any project.

Colonel Nicholas Goddard, Colorado Army National Guard, Fort Carson, CO

Kokolakis Contracting is an excellent contractor and has performed above all expectations on the Scott Barracks Renovation and Modernization project.  They have shown great attention to the project details ensuring that the project has stayed on budget and on time.  They have gone above and beyond to allow the Government to conduct walking tours with dignitaries with very limited notice. Kokolakis Contracting is a contractor who is committed to doing quality work.  They are very diligent in ensuring that all phase of the contract are met.  From the quality of workmanship to the schedule of the project.  Their excellent workmanship and project management skills have made it possible for Scott Barracks to be such a success.

Dan Middleton, Mission and Installation Contracting Command, NY

One of the best contractors I have worked with in my 41 year construction management career. Major portions of the projects were completed and turned over earlier than required by contract.

Stephen DeNardis, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NY

Kokolakis Contracting has been a pleasure to work with since the start of this project. This project had significant challenges and Kokolakis has worked through each issue in collaboration with the project team.

Kendall Jones, Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL

Mark Walsh, U.S. Property & Fiscal Office, NY

In May, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To recognize the history and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our community, Kokolakis would like to highlight some of Ieoh Ming Pei's accomplishments.

I. M. Pei was a renowned Chinese American architect responsible for designing such iconic buildings as the JFK Memorial Library in Boston, MA, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, and the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. His buildings are easily recognizable due to his modern design style which combines open spaces and geometric patterns. This is masterfully exemplified by the glass pyramid he designed at the Louvre Museum courtyard in Paris.

This month we acknowledge and celebrate the rich culture, long history and vast accomplishments of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our company and communities. #aapimonth

The history of women in construction dates back as far as the Middle Ages, however, the first written record of women construction workers dates to 13th-century Spain. By the late 19th century, the first women engineers and architects began to stand out. Amongst them stands Engineer Emily Warren Roebling who directed construction of the Brooklyn Bridge and completed it, after her husband Washington Roebling fell ill. She was so instrumental to the success of the project that when the bridge opened in 1883, she rode with President Chester A. Arthur across its full length.

This month, not only do we wish to acknowledge women like Emily Warren Roebling, who paved the path for women in construction, but also our female employees at Kokolakis Contracting. #WomensHistoryMonth

In 1965, Greek Orthodox Archbishop Iakovos marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Alabama in support of the civil rights movement. During the historic march, Archbishop Iakovos was the only church leader to march alongside King, putting the Greek Orthodox faith at the forefront during this turbulent time for American society.

After Iakovos died in 2005, Coretta Scott King said, “At a time when many of the nation’s prominent clergy were silent, Archbishop Iakovos courageously supported our Freedom Movement, and marched alongside my husband, and he continued to support the nonviolent movement against poverty, racism and violence throughout his life.”

Black History Month is a time to recognize, understand and celebrate the culture, contributions and achievements of black Americans throughout our history. In recognition of black achievements in construction, @kokolakisbuilds is shedding light on one of history’s most influential architects.

Robert Robinson Taylor (1868 – 1942) was the first African American student enrolled at MIT and the first accredited African American architect; prior to his education, he was a foreman and carpenter for his father, who had a successful career as a builder and contractor. Taylor graduated from MIT in 1892 and was hired by Booker T. Washington (a prominent black educator) to design and construct numerous buildings for the Tuskegee Institute – a historically black college and university (HBCU) that focused on industrial curriculum.

Additionally, he worked as an instructor for the Institute and introduced the use of plans and specifications in the curriculum and emphasized that construction should be met with both hand and mind. During his 30+ year career as an architect he designed dozens of buildings for high-profile universities across the southern United States, including numerous HBCUs.
